Welcome aboard James.
Answers to your questions.
1. I can guarantee there will still be trash at Brooksbrae when you return.

2. There is no sign at Cedar Bridge because a lot of locations claim to be the last battle of the Revolution. Also, it really wasn't a battle but a skirmish.

3. There is a way to sneak a vehicle into Howardsville but you will need 4x4. I believe vehicles are prohibited so I won't tell you how to drive in. You can however walk in. When you go up Howardsville Rd. you will come to an area on the right where there is a blocked road. Just park there an walk in. I would avoid that area except on Sundays as it is hunting season.

The road in to Howardsville is pretty rough even for a 4x4. A few years ago I was able to sneak in an old Grand Cherokee. The last time I was there, it was pretty rough for my Wrangler.

The only reason to drive in would be to save your legs from walking. There's only one way in and out, and one road that leads down through the site. You'd probably be better off parking on Howardsville Rd. (or whatever that is off 72) and walking in.

Howardsville is state owned so you are allowed to be there. I drove there in my car a few weeks back past Howardville and parked here.

I would not recommend doing it since you have some serious puddles to go through and around. There was one puddle that I had no problem skirting the edge on the way in, but on the way out I found I could not maneuver between the two trees I went through coming in. So my only option was to hold the pedal to the floor and go for broke. The last 5 feet I almost stopped dead but by turning the wheels back and forth my car slowly inched out.

The Lawrence line runs right through there and I was looking for WMA markers on the line. The problem was it was still too early in the year and the vegetation was too dense, and just as we got out of the car it started pouring. All that work getting there and we left.

The owner of the hotel has quite a garden there, and when Ben and I visited him that day he was drying onions on the floor of the porch. He showed us the original steps of the hotel, and where he had to cut the wall out of the side of the building to get his furniture into the upstairs rooms. We signed a book that he keeps on the bar. An interesting day!
