I'm looking to catch some bullhead catfish. I hear they are good sport on light tackle. I was told that the pines have all 3 species of bullhead- brown, yellow, and black. Does any one fish for these and could pass some spots to me. Thanks

If you want non-stop action on small catties, try the swirling pool on the east side of 206 below the Atsion Lake dam. It is the receptor for the Atsion lake dam discharge. Put two and two together and you will see that there is the potential for larger fish downstream or up in the lake.
Park off the highway in the clearing on the east side of the highway and south of the dam and you will easily find a footpath leading to the pool.
Worm or chicken liver on a hook with a split shot and you're in the money. Stupid easy but they are small fish. The

Batsto River holds quite a few and a good spot to try is anywhere from the lake to a mile or so upstream of the dam.

Good luck !

Yellow and brown bullheads, I've never seen a black. I've also heard that tadpole madtoms are native but I don't recall seeing one. Where Scott (rednek) said. You can find them in Atsion lake also just off shore in the evening. Presidential lakes used to be loaded with them. Batsto lake also, I think Scott mentioned that. they are pretty much everywhere but you have to get your bait to the bottom and leave it there or the pickerel will go for it first, but if you use worms, chicken parts etc. that is a good way to go and pickerel won't be as aggressive to take the bait. Have fun, good luck!!!

I've caught blacks in Chatsworth Lake, I used minnows from the bait bucket that had died. But like someone already mentioned you need to get your bait to the bottom. Good luck and have fun.

Here is a pic of a bullhead caught in Whitesbog a couple weeks ago by my son (3 1/2/ y.o) His first catch all by himself!!!! I took a bunch of photos but my battery was dying so this is the only one I got. He was a good size, bigger than he looks in the photo because my hand is too close to the camera for perspective. he was released unharmed. He was caught on a worm weighted to the bottom with about 8" between the worm and the weights.

Very nice Jeff.
I miss the days of teaching my sons to fish, they're now 23 and 24. I will have to wait for grandkids to have that experience again.
I kept their bobbers and I still carry them in my tackle box. One is Snoopy and the other is Donald Duck.

BTW, Mike and I fished Lock's Bridge last Tuesday night.
Tons of bullheads and everyone the same size, 9" +/-

You were actually right. Nice spot with lots of small yellow bullhead. I had a good time though. I'm gonna check out some spots up stream like you said. But I can check off yellow bullhead from my list. Next up is redfin pickerel.
