To those of you guys who have the Cabela's Boar Hide Field Pants, am I right in assuming that you need to have them hemmed?

It looks like they come with a 37" inseam, and that it will hem to a 35.5" without cuffs. I normally wear pants that are 32" long, and I don't want to end up with a cuff at the bottom of these pants, let alone try to find someone to hem them up for me.

I wonder if I should just get the Wrangler pants? They at least already have a 32" inseam.

I have the Wrangler as does Bob, but for some reason mine are not as durable as his. I am not sure if they have cut back on the quality or not. Just make sure you get the color you want. Click on the right square for the ones I have. (Brown) The color of the pants themselves change over time so they will not always look like that.

I would love to get a pair for Jessica, but as usual nobody is that small :)

I don't know anyone who has the Cabela pants.

I ordered the Wranglers (after debating between tan and blue I ended up getting tan so I will match the rest of you guys) and this vest.

I also went to Wal-Mart today and got some orange, although it's not blaze orange.

Did you get the orange or tan vest? You will like the pants for sure, they do protect more than jeans.

My biggest problem with exploring are the briers. I just hate them. So hopefully these and the vest will help me out.

Cabella's seems really nice, although if you're not a hunter it has less for you. Certainly they have things there that I can't find locally - even including the EMS store up in Eatontown.

They help, but nothing is a cure :(

Wow, I didn't know being a rugged outdoorsman cost so much. $225 for a vest? $355 for a pair of boots? Here's something more reasonable. $30 socks.

Clearly I was doing something wrong when I tried my hand at selling stuff like this.

Ben
Filson has always been high end but their stuff literally lasts for generations. They started making clothes for the Alaskan Gold Rush.
My hunting coats and vests will easily make it down to my grandchildren's children.
Unfortunately, as you see from their catalog, they have started to cater to the yuppy market. Price doesn't seem to matter to some people and some of their stuff is ridiculously expensive as you have seen.
I don't mind paying for some things that I know I will only have to buy once, like their double tin coat or vest. I did actually wear out one pair of double tin pants about 10 years ago when I used to do a lot of rabbit hunting. I just had them cut them a little short, had then re-hemmed and gave them to my son. He still wears them.
They actually used to warn you about buying the double tins by saying in their catalog... "If you don't need them, you will not want to wear them."
A few years ago the company was purchased by a major clothing corporation (they keep that very quiet) and they have stared outsourcing a lot of their stuff. One of their stongest selling points used to be that all of their stuff came out of Seattle.
This year's catalog has a section where they start backpedalling about having to outsource.
The heavy double tin stuff is still made in Seattle as is all of their heavy wool garments. I have the Double Mackinaw wool coat and pants and they will long outlive me.
