Can you identify this icon on my documents and photos?

Guessing here. In Norton 360 that means they need to be backed up. You can turn that feature off in Norton.
1. Open NAV 360
2. Click 'Settings'
3. Un check 'Back up system overlays'
4. Restart

Step by step instructions:
1) Open Norton.
2) Click on Settings at the top.
3) On the right there is a section for Quick Controls
4) Check to see if the "Backup Status Indicators" button is checked or unchecked.
5) If it is checked, uncheck it.
6) Then you can close Norton. You might have to restart your computer afterward for the change to take effect. If the blue boxes disappeared right after you closed Norton, then you probably don't have to restart.

Never care for Norton I switched over to Linux open SUSE Leap 42.1 Still like to hear your outcome
