That is a nice size tree stump. The question is why have the man looking sideways? Odd!
I have a large picture taken about 1900 of my great-grandfather and his kin and friends with one well dressed young (20-ish?) lady standing at far right facing to the left at 90 degrees to the group. An older cousin of mine told me she did it "to show her good side".

It is near a lake or river from what I can tell. That stool the woman is standing on does not look safe. They look out of place.
