Ever since I had this car I have had a lingering problem with vibrations when I put it into reverse. This only occurs once in a while and only in reverse. It seems to mysteriously go away and may not return for months.
On Saturday when we explored around the Calico area, I went though two low sections in the road and hit bottom on one of them. But all seemed fine and I returned home.
On Sunday the vibrations were there and had increased dramatically, and unfortunately this time it occurred going forward. Every time I stopped I had to put it in neutral or I felt the car would fall apart. I kept thinking I had damaged something to the point I would have to have repairs.
At work on Tuesday at lunch I decided to look under the car to see if I could find the problem. There is a support across my car just behind the engine and transaxle that is "T" shaped and it was completely covered in mud. By covered it had 6" think of mud which extended to all the other areas around it, even around the exhaust pipe. So after arriving home I squirted the bottom of my car with the hose for 5 minutes and the vibrations are gone. All I can say is that on my drive home on Saturday the mud was wet, but once it dried in the cold weather on Saturday night it became rock hard causing the vibrations.
Apparently, this must have been occurring on the other occasions and rain removed it causing the vibrations to stop.
