I understand the emotions over the destruction of our history. I went to the movies at the Harwan and the Century, and hated to see them torn down. I also don't like the traffic. But South Jersey is my home, and I don't know if I'll be able to easily move away. Those of you that have moved, was it hard to do it? Do you miss your old area? My wife and I are considering a move and are finding it a difficult decision to make.

I live back in southern NJ now but i lived in NW Pennsylvannia for a yr or 2 and it was like taking a step back in time. The town i lived in had a gas station a gun store and 3 churchs. People where nice and curtious to one another, crime was all but non existent and If i was driving some where that took 20 minutes its because it was a 20 minute drive not because i sat in traffic for 15 mins.

Sounnds nice aaron. I guess though it won't stop because it has do with economics and what is good for the business. There is a term for this(I don't remember) but evrybody wants there cut. If one business opens in an area and is succesful, you can almost gurantee it competitor will open its doors right across the street. They could never let there competitor get all the business in one area. So instead of opening a cvs where there are no other drug stores, they want to open them up right next to their competitors to close them down or get their piece of the pie. Also they knocked that old cvs down(it was fine, But cvs wants to make all their buildings the same and bigger) so they knock one down and build a brand new building. Yes it is hoping to create more business. but maybe they are running out of ideas on what to do with their money.

I'm going through extreme culture shock. I've only ever lived in Toms River or Bayville. The ocean and beaches were always just minutes away. The bay, marshes, reeds, boardwalks, pine trees, etc., etc....you don't realize how many little things you miss until you're away from them for a while.
People for the most part are nicer and everything is more laid back; I'm having trouble adjusting to that. Also, they drive like they're sane, again something I have to get used to.

I had a conversation with James and I said this was at the time my only option. There was just about nowhere in NJ affordable for my wife and me. My mortgage right now is hundreds less than the apartments we were looking at. I might come back in a few years after I can finally MAKE some money and not be in the negatives.
For now though, the change of scenery is nice and I'm only about 2 hours away from my Pines. Not like I'm out west or something. I come down usually every other weekend.

I grew up in Haddon Heights and that building is one of my favorites.
A nice old time theatre. Look in the pictures where there is a small alleyway between the large building and the smaller one to the right. That was our meeting spot in the mid eighties to share a jug of wine, sneak a few of my pops beers, or fight kids from Audubon.
