We did our 15th annual Good Friday freshwater trip today and it was a little brisk . We fished one of my favorite places in the southern reaches of the pines.
We were missing our good friend Pat Hansen this year who passed on last fall with cancer.
He made the trip with us last year when he was in the middle of his chemo and he was with us in spirit today.
It wasn't the same without him and I will forever miss him as a fishing partner and friend.
We caught at least 30 pickerel, 4 yellow perch for the pan and 2 nice largemouth bass.
Bald eagles and ospreys glided over us all day.
Attached are some pics of me and my son Michael with some catches.
I can't imagine leaving this beautiful, windswept lake today with the thought that I may never return, as our friend Pat did last year.

Tell your son thats a nice bass, and I really dig that hat. Bet he was warmer than most of you.

I like the fact that you went anyway to maintain the tradition. That's what I like about you Scott. You have strong, strong sense of tradition, community, and love of family. You cannot beat that. If America goes down the tubes, its due to a lack of that (well, that and our blind pride).

But I digress. What were you using to coax the wiley water wolfs in to your hook?

Thanks for the compliment Bob.
We stocked up with two pints of healthy bay minnows from a local bait shop before hitting the lake.
This time of year you can't beat live bait. There were three of us in my boat and we nearly finished the two pints in 7 1/2 hours on the water.
