so the hunter was hunting illegally and shot more than once at humans! I bet there is alot more to this story and I bet it has to do with the hunter's mental competency.

Sounds like this guy was trying to poach a deer on private land. Probably a case of shooting at a noise without "knowing your target and beyond."

If I need a deer that bad, I'll just run him over with the truck!

It's a real shame for the kids and their families.

What makes these incidents especially tragic is that fact that they are virtually all preventable. There really is no such thing as a hunting or firearm accident. They are almost always the result of someone doing something stupid. If the most basic safety rules stressed in hunter and firearm training are followed, these accidents shouldn’t occur. It’s a shame it takes the tragic loss of a life to drill the message home with some people.
