There seems to be new composting operations popping up here in the pine barrens on Long Island. When I was out last Friday at Robert Cushman Murphy preserve in Ridge, I could see huge steam clouds coming off a compost heap and the smell can really make you sick. It burns my nose and throat. I made it a point to walk by it real fast!
Also there's one near Manorville Hills as well. Anyway, the stuff isn't good to breathe...how they can be allowed to operate near parklands and residences is beyond me, but the builders seem to always get their way (gotta have the compost so they can have green lawns for their McMansions, and illegal alien labor to mow 'em).:jeffd:
