I'm taking some people out for a little tour of Wharton. I'd like someone to give me a little information on the places I'm gonna visit. I'm going to Washington Tavern, Friendship, Apple Pie Hill (what's it 205 ft, and another 40 for the tower) Caranza Monument, Hampton Furence ruins, Mount

Barbara's book will give you some "cheater" info on your marks to make you look good. A look at TOPOZONE will give you some elevations close enough to sound good. They're reasonably accurate.
And yes, as Paddler said... a wealth of info if you let your fingers do the walking. Just a couple thoughts. I was asked to do the same for a church group but felt to noviced compared to this group, which brings me to your #1 source of info... Ben's "gateway to the pines". a site you may be familiar with under another name. "NJPB". I do not think you could tap better resources. Half your searches would probably bring you back here. That would be one of my outs. Good luck.

Although they aren't in Wharton, some of my favorite place which I've taken a "city friend" include Harrisville, Oswego Lake, Spring Hill, Nature Conservancy lake and swamp (where the house used to be) and Forked River Mountain.

Here are a few links that might be of interest (not necessarily Wharton though):

Terraserver has Apple Pie at 205 feet, and the tower is 60 foot tall. The tower was originally from Retreat Hill which now is in Leisuretown.

For info on the other locations you most likely can find some by just doing a search on this site.

I would take them down 206, wander around Parkdale for about an hour and then say, "Whew, man am I thirsty."
I would then take them to the Pic-A-Lilly for some frosty ones and some wings.
End of tour.

That's the best idea I ever heard of.

Get your group drunk enough and just convince them the next morning how exhilarating and informative the tour was. When they can not remember, act very hurt that your efforts went for naught. Shame them.
