This Thread is nice reading, especially that I was a friend of Dave's.John Fenimore and I rode in motorcycle enduro events in the Wharton Tract ,begining in 1947.It was through John that I met Dave.Dave loved children and he would say "bring your wife[Peggy] and your kids down for a visit and turn them loose"We visited Dave many times.I belonged to Meteor motorcycle club at that time. One Sat.a gang of us went down Dave,s.The gal's and kids set up a picnic and the guy's painted Dave's house..I have a lot of short stories to relate if you all want me to print them.Scott ,I have the other 3 articles .Will see that you get them.

Bill,

We all would be interested in anything you have, photo's or stories. Please keep that scanner at Scott's work in use :)

Great to see you joined the site Bill!
With a lot of help from Teegate on here I was able to get the article and picture posted.
I will return the photo Thursday night.
I am going to Shakey's viewing this afternoon, maybe I will see you there.

Teegate:I attended Dave's viewing. Not sure of where he was buried. His family lived in Hammonton.I assume that is where his final resting place is.

Bill,

I will try to see if I can find it.

Do you remember the year? Also, how did John know him?

All,

A few weeks back Janwor informed me that Dave Amato is listed on the WW1 memorial in downtown Hammonton, so this morning Jessica and I headed there to check it out. Here are a few photo’s.

In the small little portion of the bottom of the monument the name John Amato is listed also. I mention that because of what happened next. I have been calling the local cemeteries inquiring about Dave, and I am not receiving a call back. So we decided to just walk around in one of them and see if we might happen to find the location. While looking around a woman walker passed by and casually mentioned that I was looking for a needle in a haystack, and I mentioned I was not getting a call back from them about Dave.

She whipped out her phone and called the owner or managers cell phone, and at the same time she informed me she was a funeral director. Unfortunately, he was not there. However, she mentioned John Amato and said I was most likely in the wrong cemetery, and to try the other one I was going to visit which we did. No luck there either in our brief search, so I still have not narrowed down the location of Dave Amato. She did give me one other tip which I will be trying after another call to the cemeteries on Monday. Hopefully, the one cemetery responded to her call to them, and this time will answer my call after they hear the name Dave Amato from me.

All,

It has taken a while; however, the search is over. With the help of Janwor I was able to locate the grave of Dave Amato.

Adding a touch more life to an old thread. Dave Amato's homestead early this morning as the sun came up over the trees with a hint of fall in the colors. It is a marvelous spot to call home.

Thanks, it was a very nice area to hike early in the morning. The perfect weather only added to it. Imagine walking out the door first thing in the morning with the sweet air and surrounded by cranberry bogs. Not a bad thought at all.
