Last night a friend of mine told me about a man by the name of David Estell, who supposedly killed himself and his family one night at where is now Estell Manor. His body is also supposedly burried at some old abandoned church off of Rt.50 (which we visited last night).

Any evidence behind this? I tried looking it up thru google to no avail.

Thanks,
Brandon

I'd be interested to hear about this as well since that church is right down the street from my home. The first time my daughter visited me after moving there we drove past that church and she said it was definitely haunted :) Of course, she thinks every house we've ever lived in was haunted also...

I believe I read something about this somewhere, and I think it was on another pine barrens related website. But I think it would be a bad idea to post anything too specific about that location in relation to ghosts since it would be a shame to attract the "Weird NJ" type crowd to such a nice, historic place.

Agreed. No need for attention. Their crowd has done enough damage to sites already

Vandals did deface the Carranza Memorial several years ago and it had to be restored. Don't know if that had any connection to Weird NJ though.

Do a search for Carranza MNemorial Under Wraps, there are quite a few pages there talking about the incident.

I just picked up a copy of Atlantic County Ghost Stories since it looked like fun.

http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-Coun...068370-5302554?ie=UTF8&qid=1183226181&sr=11-1

The chapter "Ghosts of a Ghost Town" talks about Daniel Estell - is that who you were thinking of perhaps?

"Over at the Daniel Estell House, which we refer to as 'the mansion,'" John Hansen said, "people have also reported ghostly sightings. Apparently Daniel's wife, Rebecca, walks on the third floor of that place. She died at an early age."

There's more in this chapter, but nothing referencing the church, and no mention of a "David Estell" killing his family.
