Chuck

Real good looking Dog, many years of fun are in the picture.

Really liked all your pics, especially the twilight ones.

Bub and I went to Atsion to meet up with Grendel his son Eric and his nephew John. The first thing the Kid's wanted to do was checkout and climb this downed tree

I must of taken 50 or so different angles and settings to try and get the waviness in the glass to appear but no luck.

Stopped and checked out the old barn on the way back to the Ranger Station

I am impressed they took the time to include a decorative crown molding on A poured in Place Barn.

We then loaded up the 3 Amigo's in the back of my Truck and headed to Hampton Furnace.

If you are serious about the hammer, that is the best! Couple years back I found some leavings in a tree fort I had in Elm as a yoot (what's a yoot?)
What a sense of memory it brings on. Thanks for so many nice shots.
Catching the look of the glass at Grace is tough indeed. You did the outside justice though.
Again, thanks for sharing your day and your wonderful Chillun'.

That hammer was in great shape when we stashed it. It has weathered about as well as me.
We spent a lot of time out there when we were kids. We would go back to that trestle and shoot all day, and no one ever bothered us. Times were different then. We would have someone drop us off for a long weekend and it was like the lost boys. Shotguns, rifles, machettes and knives. We had camps all over the woods. Thank God no one ever tried to mess with us. There was always fresh meat over the fire what ever the season, and a bottle or two laying around. The thought of dropping my son( I mean when he is a teenager) and his buddies off in the woods in New Jersey with guns and blades......hell no.

That's still done now, the location was moved out of the woods and is now done in Camden! BTW, did Chuck let Wharton attack your ankles in retaliation for your "nice cat" comment?

Bethlehem Loading company's tressle over Stephans creek.

I just found this and though this was pretty cool

This is What the train tressle that went over Stephans creek in the Atlantic County Park looked like in 1918

A few more pics from our hike with the boys

One of the big pines at Atsion had been blown over in the winds the night before our hike.We had to climb it. Does anyone know what type of pine these are?

We then checked out Grace church. What a place .I will have to attend here some Sunday.

We then headed back to Hampton furnace. We always called the ruins here the glass factory. Was it a glass furnace or iron? I have also heard peolpe call the building here a cranberry wharehouse.

I was surprised to find bamboo growing at Hampton

My son at the bridge over Tthe Batsto

After the bridge we had lunch.
On the way out we turned a corner onto hampton furnace road. The setting sun was lighting up the pines in a way that I really wanted to capture, the picture barely does it justice.

Do it. You will be pleased. It is a short commitment yet a fulfilling visit.
You will have spent quality time in a place still standing that has endured and outlived many of the very places you strive to find on every outing.
Might get a good feeling in you before your journey.
Be ready to grab a Hymnal book, bring your voice, and belt out a tune.
(I just mouth the words myself. It worked for Milli Vanilli)

When it comes to singing in church, I once volunteered to sing solo and my Pastor said I could either sing "alone in the garden" or "on a hill far away".
I like to think somehow it sounds a lot better by the time it gets to heaven.
