Happy Arbor Day! On Monday 4/23/2018, NJ Department of Environmental Protection Acting Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe joined students from the Berkeley Township Elementary School's Potters Creek Crusaders and Bayville Elementary School's Beautiful Earth and Air Keepers [BEAK] to celebrate Earth Week by planting a portion of Double Trouble State Park's Atlantic White Cedar restoration area with over two hundred saplings.
“I am privileged to be here to celebrate Earth Week with students who are so passionate about protecting and enhancing our natural resources,” Acting Commissioner McCabe said. “These students represent our future and proudly exemplify the grassroots environmentalism that has helped make New Jersey a nationally recognized leader on protecting natural resources and the environment.”
It was an honor and a privilege for our park to host this event and welcome the new acting commissioner. '
