Dead fish in the Mullica

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a relatively large number of dead fish (various species) floating along the river. This is by far the greatest number I've noticed in several years. The first thought that occurred to me was that they were caught and released and died from the wounds, but that now seems highly unlikely. I am becoming very worried that they are getting sick. Has anyone any information on this?

Some species, like shad, spawn and die around this time of year.

How about turtles?? So far i've already found 3 dead redbelly turtles, a dead red-eared slider, a dead snapping turtle,and 2 dead box turtles. All in areas that run into the egg harbor bay.

That does sound odd. Maybe the DEP should be contacted.
