Is there a dedicated channel that off-roaders/wheelers have established for use during there runs? Although the wife and I off-wheel alone (I know that presents a whole different series of concerns), I do carry both a handheld CB and GMRS radio. I can't remember the last time I actually heard someone transmitting. I understand that with the various security codes of the GMRS, it's unlikely that I'd hear anyone's transmissions, but what about on the CB? Is there a dedicated channel that you folks use or do you switch it up with each adventure you take in a group?

When I used to go out with some of the guys from the Land Cruiser club we would just agree on a channel before going out. You might want to check out www.the-jersey-devil.com for more info on this topic though. That site is pretty much dedicated to off-roading in the pines. I know that most of those guys use CBs as well. Also, you might want to pick up a set of FRS radios as well. I have a set of Motorolas which are great if you're traveling with with a small group. I think I paid 129.00 for two from Cabela's.

That Jersey Devil board is pretty hardcore.
I looked at some of the pics from their "Beginners rides section" and the trails look like something that'd make my truck run home to momma!
