You didn't miss much. Some guy has invented a siren that goes off when car headlights shine in it. They tried it on a road for 10 days and they don't think anyone hit a deer. More great reporting by the CP... :dance:

Seems to me that the deer would hear a car coming just as soon as the siren. So if they aren't bothering to get out of the way when they hear the car, I wonder how long it will take for them to ignore the siren also?...

I couldn't click on the link, but I remember about 20 years ago there being this little thing you stuck on the outside of your car that would whistle as the wind went through it. I recall that it was not audible to human ears but was supposed to warn deer. Is that the same thing?

No, this was a box that had electronics in it to detect approaching headlights and sound an alarm. It was mounted beside the road, not on your car. The article also mentioned those "whistles" you're thinking of, and it said they weren't effective...
