Can someone tell me what are these platforms by LBI that have doghouses on them? There is also one near beesleys point. Have to be for birds but not sure what kind.

No picture, but a guess they are Peregrine Falcon hacking towers. Placed by NJF&W Endangered and Nongame Species Program, after Pete Mclain began the program.
There are quite a few around, one at the old pole farm in Ocean Gate. There also was one at Forsythe NWR at Oceanville, i.e. Brig, but it was recently removed. There is a F&W Peregrine report that lists all of them. Mclain was a close friend, he passed on 4 years ago, one of a kind.
A few years ago we installed a platform & rebuilt a falcon nesting box atop the arch span of the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. It replaced a previous wood box. I guess the doghouse is a better idea. Our work can be seen here: http://www.palmyracove.org/FalconCam.aspx
There's an article on page B1 of today's Phila Inquirer about the LBI platform. Up top is a "dogloo", and Ben Wurst (of Conserve Wildlife NJ) bought it at Pet Smart for $229.99. He also is the one who built the platform for it.
