All,

Member Theressa has made up a Word file on the history of the McCambridge family. James McCambridge was the owner of the Eagle Tavern if the name sound familiar. It is interesting to note that Theressa has noticed that the sign that presently is at Eagle is wrong. It incorrectly names Joseph McCambridge as the owner of the Tavern.

The Word file comes complete with photo’s of the McCambridge grave stones, and the location where they are interned. It is a very interesting read which I recommend to all members to check out. Since it is a Word file and not a photo, I have uploaded it to my FTP site on this website and the link is below. Remember this should be credited to and was compiled by Theressa.

This is a direct download and will start as soon as you click on the link. It is about 7MB so keep that in mind.

There may be some photo’s to follow but I am not sure.

On another subject, do you know where the cemetery at Sims Place is? According to my aunt, now in her 80's who had family living and working there, there is/was a cemetery and a church which, burned during a forest fire years ago.
Thanks again,
T.

Never knew that, but then again Sim Place has always been a secret and private place.

Now the search must begin :)

Anyone?

Interesting material.

Speaking of interesting, I'm betting Gideon Pharo was an interesting person. You don't get christened with a name like that, and end up managing a tavern in the Jersey Woods for the Speedwell Furnace working class without having an intesting life and reputation.

I have been going back into Simm place since the 70's and it has always facinated me. Back then you could go alot of places, but lately I've noticed alot is blocked off. I'd be up for some fresh explorations of that area and Howardsville, too.

It is owned by Haines and is private, so it is unwise going to Sim Place.

Sim Place and the Bombing Range have things in there that you know i would like to see, since i have been on a permission kick lately and getting approved for certain places, i am willing to write to Mr. Haines for permission to go to Sim Place. Also would like to get permission for the bombing range. There is unfinished business with the B and O's

So close yet so far when coming in from Warren Grove on a paved road then seeing the gate across the road going to Sim Place.

On another note, i have never seen the gate open when crossing the Papoose Branch past the bogs on Stevenson Road, Sim Place is an enigma and with permission it needs to be checked out. At the Reevestown Cemetery, i thought the Estlows were the object of you research.

I've been to Sim Place with Tug Haines. To be honest, there's not much to see besides bogs, some modern workers houses, and the packing house. Most of the place was neglected for years before the Haines took over, so they're working on fixing it up.

Sorry Ben, I was referring to the general vicinity of Simm place. There was a ruins of an old farmstead on Jenkins Rd. and a swimming hole dug out of a cedar swamp where there was an abandoned trailer.
Jim, as far as the bombing range is concerned there is a public observation area off 539. I have watched the jets from Phoenix sand while waiting to load, they are awesome.

I have been to the parking lot area of the bombing range quite a few times, thanks for the info Tom.

Jim I think you can also get back there by Coyle field, I'm sure you know where that is. We used to go all over back there but things were way different.

if I could ask, where is the observation lot for the bombing range. If they are even still flying out there after the flare fire back in May
