Eastern Ringneck Snake

I found this little guy hiding under a pot I was bringing in for the winter. At first he was so sluggish I could pose him as if he was made of plastic, but he soon warmed up. We always have plenty of these hanging around our pool in Tabernacle, under the cover or in the ivy. It's always wet there too, lots of worms and bugs.

Ringnecks and Worm snakes are a staple, and can almost always be counted upon finding especially in the Spring.

It depends on where you are, most of the places ive been to i haven't found worms or ringnecks, but at belleplain state forest i almost can count of finding one on every trip.

In his 2nd picture, he has the belly shown. That's the best way to tell the difference. Southerns have a full row of half moons. Northern ringnecks either have a blank stomach, or a couple isolated rows of very small dots, not half moons.

But no, i can't see the broken ring in any of his pictures. And by the way, i love that icon of yours holding the copperhead, and your new enter page on the site, good stuff man.

I usually consider those in south Jersey as Integrades, SouthernxNorthern because of their variability. I have attached a pic of a northern from Sullivan Co. Pa.
