In the late 1800’s Congressman John Gardner purchased land near Edgepillock Lake in what is known today as Shamong Township, New Jersey. The Congressman and former Mayor of Atlantic City carved out a farming operation in the Pines that the Gardner family continues to this day.

Yes Bob, that nails it! I was attracted to the Gardner family history. John and Ruth Gardener were neighbors and friends. Ruth died a few years ago and John last August. Johns father, Hobart, owned the Shady Rest Liquor Store on 206, now Scoots.
