Cool - yes, I just tried with GlobalMapper and it converts to KML without problem. Here's a file that contains the area I used to make the map. Theoretically, it should open in Google Earth. I had to zip it so that the forum software would allow me to upload. Download, right-click > extract all on Windows (or just double-click on the Mac I think).

West Virginia is fine with me, I lived in Southern Maryland, up in the mountains right on the border with West Virgina for a little while. Beautiful country. :)

BTW, there's a caution in the metadata that the parcel data is NOT survey grade, so expect some errors.

Damn! no labels

To get labels like mine in GlobalMapper, click on the overlay (layer) button, then double-click the parcel layer (woodparcel.shp in this example). Click the button "Use Multiple Attributes for Name", then add BLOCK and LOT from the list of available attributes. You can use one of the standard separators or use a custom one like I did (the slash character). Of course, you can't save this with the free version, but it's pretty easy and will put labels on the screen.

Beautiful! I have already opened stone files on top of the shp file and many of them land exactly on corners so I think this shp file while it may not be survey grade is very accurate! Thanks again Boyd

If you would like a list of coordinates for any lot, double-click it on the map. That will open the Modify Feature dialog - click the Vertices button to get the list. You can use the copy to clipboard button to get the data into another program.

I got as far as the attribute naming setup screen but there is no block or lot in there just feature description feature label but I don't see block or LOT as available attributes??? I put a shp file in here maybe that info doesn't come with an shp file?It was the only file that global mapper recognized though from my download.

Using the NJGIN, you can download parcel data by county/town. I was using the file Woodland.zip that I downloaded awhile ago. When you un-zip this file you get a folder with a bunch of stuff, but the file you need to open in Globalmapper is called woodparcel.shp.

If you do this, then you should see the same attributes as my screenshot.

I just figured it out.I put recognize all files and it recognized my mdb. file I had downloaded,a huge file.It then let me click block and lot so now I have block and lot numbers showing with my gpx file of stones on top of it all and many are smack dab on top of corners.8 meters is around 27 ft i think.should get us close enough to find at least some of them and then plotting off of those will get us to the rest!I had this stuff in my power the whole time and never knew it.Thanks again Boyd!
