Egg Harbor Man Bitten By Rattlesnake

Good point. I get geniuenly mad seeing the media talk about this stuff, I just wish no attention was given to these events. This will just bring more people looking for them, potentially harming them. Leave them alone and they'll leave you alone.

Thats what I hate the most. It is pretty common knowledge they are there,, but I still hate it. Fortunately the nature of a timber rattlesnake makes them so hard to find and requires going into habitat that quite honestly is unwalkable that a random encounter is rare. In that area finding them how this guy did is the only way.

Chris - All over CH 12 news , interview w/ Zappolarti , then they interview another biologist , then it ends w/ a female reporter holding a live Pine !!!:(

Depending on where I'm at, traffic, etc... I usually just stop the car and put the flashers on until the snake is off the road. Some misguided people will run them over on purpose so I at least try to protect them. I''d never think to try to pick one up. This time of year ,though, the snapper turtles are doing their road crossings and I will move them out of harms way. The last one I moved (last week) I held it's tail, slid my hand under it to support it (not to close to the head though!) and while I was taking it to the roadside it peed all over both of my hands. No good deed goes unpunished I guess :)

I find NJ to be one of the best states when it comes to people moving animals off the road. I appreciate anyone who makes some attempt to save a critter on the road.
