I think there will be a big turnout tomorrow. Our goal is to get them to rescind the vote they held on Nov 18th (that wasn't on the agenda)

I understand the need to bring in business, but I will never support taking away a public park to achieve those goals.

Good news! About 150 people showed up to the meeting. So many people spoke out against this project. No one from the public spoke in favor of redevelopment.

We were able to get council to rescind their vote from Nov 18th that accepted the planning board's determination to classify the lake as a redevelopment area. Then council voted to reject the planning board's recommendation. As of right now, the project is dead in the water. A rare victory in our country's race to the bottom development frenzy.

So good to hear people turned out and even better that the project looks dead. Our kids use the lake facilities for scouting and no way a big box store would enhance that. There are so many other places to put that store. Thanks for the update!

hi everyone, just an update on this:

Through SustainableEHC we applied for an AC Electric resiliency grant to improve this section of city lake park. We won and now are moving forward with installing kiosks, trail markers, interpretative signs, and benches. We also are going to plant trees to try and protect the area ripped up by ORVs. Our goal is to have it ready for memorial day weekend 2023.
