Happy New Year all...on Chirstmas Eve my husband and I were doing some trail hiking in an out of the way area and came across some tracks...

One is of a "scratching". The pine needles were removed to a pile just behind the long scrape. There were no foot prints to be seen due to the trail covered in pine needles

IMG_8571.jpgIMG_8573.jpgIMG_8572.jpgThe first pic is of the whole disturbance. The second is a close up of the cleared area and the third (in the shadow) is a long scratch to a pile of pine needles. The cleared area was about 12-14" in diameter abd the scratch about 12" long. Have no idea what made this. Any body know?

Also came across what appears to be a bear track. It was in a small sandy area along a pine needle covered trail.

IMG_8570a.jpgAgain not sure. It was about 7" from top to bottom.

The area was very quiet and obviously not visited often...no signs of trash.

First set of pictures looks like a deer scrape. The print picture appears awfully round for the front print of a bear but that could be the sand, definitely not a rear print.
