I was looking over aerial photos of one of the Parker Preserves and noticed this bridge last night. I was looking for ways to get to a dune I wanted to visit.
Arriving this morning we saw this. It wasn't there during the summer.
Walking the road we were surprised to find a few Lady's tresses. Spiranthes.
We took the long route and eventually came to the bridge. It was solid and easy to cross.
Heading further we came upon two other bridges, basically one bridge over Goodwater Run where we were able to access the dunes mentioned above. A few old deer stands was all that was there.
From there we backtracked and explored another area nearby.
We found what must have been a dumping ground for the dirt dug out of the bogs.
Also, we found concrete which I believe may have come from a building that was there as late as 1995 that was removed to alter and enlarge the bogs. Maybe! It also may have been an old bridge.
