I do most all of my landscape photos during pre-dawn and up till the sun just peeks over the horizon as I prefer the pretty pink skies compared to the later orange tone skies. I much prefer shooting sunrise as opposed to sunset as it just seems more peaceful to me. Harsh mid-day sun is no good for photos ,so during those hours I mainly look for wildlife and scout locations for future shots.

The Duck picture Bob? Just a Male Mallard sitting on the Frozen and snow covered Barnegat Bay in Seaside Park. He walked up fairly close to where we were sitting on the edge of the bay. I shot it with my Nikon D300 with Nikon 300mm F4 lens with 1.4 Teleconvertor(420mm total). On a tripod laying on the ground to get eye level with the duck.

It is a superb photo Doug. Thanks for the info.

My favorite time to be out also. As soon as the snow goes I will go back to going out early again.
