long-a-coming said:I think its a day to day situation. As long as it stays relatively dry there is a good chance there will be a fire ban. However, I camped at Goshen about a month ago and it was after 5 when I arrived. Since both Batsto and Atsion ranger stations were both closed I just went to the campsite. A ranger pulled up in his truck and I asked him if there was a fire ban. To my surprise he said no. Camping w/o a fire just isn't camping. Just use extreme caution and don't get carried away with it.
pinelandpaddler said:longacoming, you didn't need to get a camping permit?
Exactly. You just go to one of the offices the next morning and pay.woodjin said:long-a-coming will have to comment on this, but if you arrive after hours you can often set up and then pay for the permits the next day. I know, it is hard to believe nj could be this understanding but I think it is the case.

It's not as dry as I thought then. That's good.bobpbx said:I'm not surprised there is no ban. The leaves are green now and the towers are not manned past mid-May.

When do they start manning the towers?
