I like the fire towers, I'm into the whole forest fire fighting thing, find it very interesting. would love to volunteer, just don't know where to start. got a good book over the weekend, images of america, nj forest fire service, it has a chapter on towers. good chapter on the trucks. very good book overall. had the jakes branch fire in 2002 burn very close to my house, to the point where we had hot tinders falling on the roof, had to house down the roof for a few hours they stopped the fire about a half mile from my house, very scary. thank god for the forest fire service.
Yea..that was researched by Bob Spear. He runs Sterling Tower just across the border in NY.
