Saw some cooperative dragonflies today . . . figured I'd give some tight macro shots a try.

EDIT: Updated with ID's from a local expert.

These are all Seaside Dragonlets - Erythrodiplax berenice

The lens I used was a canon 50mm macro. Not really top of the line, but it gets the job done.

The bird was found fluttering on a sand road . . . when I came across it, i dripped it some water which it happily took - then perched it back on one of the trees bordering the road. I couldn't find the nest. I don't think the bird had anything wrong with it, it just wasn't ready to fledge.

oh btw, I updated the original post with ID's for the dragonfly species . . . for what its worth.
