Yes, the compression on Youtube is pretty bad. Maybe Google Video would work better? I think you can also upload videos to Flickr.

Google no longer allows uploads using the Google Video Uploader. You have to upload to a site such as youtube and then link to it. So I tried the uploader and it would not work. I then read the forums and they are saying it is true.
