Getting a new digital camera?

Just want to alert folks there is alot of price gouging on digital cameras, especially some Canon models. I was shocked to see the camera I got for $149 back in 2005, the Powershot A610 selling for as much as $300 & up!
Similar stuff is going on with the A630 and A640, selling for as much as $100 or more above list price!
This kind of stuff should be illegal, it may already be in some states.
Buyer beware, that's all I can say.

Wouldn't the 2008 model be different than the 2005 model?

Well I'd think an A610 is and A610 regardless of when it was made... new models should have new model numbers.

While this sounds sleazy, I don't know why it would be illegal to sell a camera at any price a buyer is willing to pay. Like they say.... caveat emptor.
