Barry, there is an article in the PPA newsletter (Pinelands watch) about Sea Oaks Golf Course. Seems they were pumping over 16 million gallons of water a month onto the course to keep it green even when 40 local wells were dry during the drought last year. AND, they recently asked to increase that to 21 million gallons of water a month.

That's a bit much. Is that where you work? That is an obscene amount of water to use just so the greens are green.
 
Yes that is an obscene amount of water to use for that. That's not where I work. I work here: http://www.seaviewgolf.com/ It's a very old property with 2 courses. In the heat of summer, especially in years past when there were no water restrictions, they were using 350,000 gallons per night on one course and 500,000 gallons per night on the other course. I can't remember what our water permit is, but it's for a much larger amount than 16 million. I'm pretty sure.
Sea Oaks is practically brand new. I think it was completed last year or something. Keith, the former co-worker that explores with me sometimes, works there now.
This extreme water use is just one of the big problems I have with golf courses.

Did you read the part called "Welcome to the New Jersey Pine Plantation-lands?" yet? That's all about the new Pine plantations being built in the Pines. One big one is the Lee Brothers plantation. There's a sign for it on 563, just north of Speedwell. Renee and her family and I stumbled upon it when driving from the Eagle Tavern site to Apple Pie Hill one day last summer. It was huge! It covered many hundreds of acres, or maybe thousands. Yet when I emailed the Commission about it, the woman said that without a lot # and a block # she could not help me, and she also said she was not familiar with the Eagle Tavern site or with Apple Pie Hill. So she had no idea of where it was and couldn't investigate for me.
