All,
Saturday morning Scott (RednekF350 ), Dave ( Hinchman's Hill ), and I met at the Library if you will of Jerseyman. He was very kind in offering his many resources for study. A perfect gentleman and generous host, he answered any and all questions with patience and eerily was able to with what seemed
effortless skill reach for a book, pull out a map or any reference to answer a question in seconds.
We all three had some like and unlike interests and searches and believe me when I tell you, his years of collecting and research pays off. I myself was able to fill in a few holes in an area of interest and learn a little more about fellow whose namesake road is one of my top interests. The ability to view and put hands on maps like in his collection is invaluable in itself. I do not think you could find an offering like this just about anywhere with a host capable of presenting as he does.
It was fun to speak on each of our related histories, backgrounds, and heck even our health. While the day was ripening up to fine proportions outside, the atmosphere inside was cheerfull as well. Information flowed and anecdotes were exchanged. We really do exist in an area of rich history (not everthing about Jersey sucks folks) and we should be aware of it. What in industry alone this region and it's generations of people and resources offered to all is staggering.
This site is a great tool for such and collections like Jerseyman's are not as easy to come by anymore. Take advantage of every tool you are offered
folks. Always remain the student.
All in all it was Good Fellas I had company with on Saturday morn' and I'm glad for it.
Thank you Jerseyman.

LARGO:

Thank you very much for your kind words. You are correct--we do live in a state and a region rich in history! Walking the ground to see the remnants of that history first-hand is a large part of the experiential equation, but so, too, is conducting the research necessary to gain an understanding of what you viewed. While the WWW is a great resource tool, and getting better all the time, it is not a substitute for good library and archival work the old-fashioned way! For all of the material available on the 'net, there is so much more information, sometimes unique, that can only be accessed in a non-digital setting. Taking a well-rounded approach to the discipline of history benefits us all as we share our collective knowledge on these forums and elsewhere!

Best regards,
Jerseyman
