It is pretty cool.
One year Excite (I think) changed their page for Halloween and it was the coolest think I had ever seen. There were images literally moving all over the screen! I loved it. I thought for sure I saved it to disk, but maybe it got lost in my switch to a new computer, which I've done twice since.

This is off topic and maybe out of line but fiddle chicks, electric fiddles.. thats just coool. I play drums, well kind of. Only once every few months for the past few years since we had kids but I do love music. Never heard an electric fiddle live before. I just caught your avatar checked out that web and had to comment. :D I assume you scratch the strings?

Yep. Classically trained, but I teach privately, with a backbone of classical. My students do fiddling, zydecko (Cajun), gypsy, blues, jazz, bluegrass, movie music (love the pieces from Godfather!), all types of folk music, even Lennon and McCartney. I love it. My electric violin is essentially an acoustic with a pizo pickup; it's red with glitter, and the bow is white. Someday I'd like a zeta 8 string, it looks like an electric guitar and the pegs are like an electric guitar, but it's most definately a violin. Some electrics look like little more than a fingerboard and a chinrest! But those are thousands of dollars.

I am hoping to head up to Alberts once a month or so and mess around in the picking shed. I'd love to find a group to play blues, fiddling and Piney type music. If ya know anyone, send em my way, ok?

I like this one! It's not an 8 string though, it's a 5 string. Acoustics are 4 string.

I suspect that they are making a snowball that will be fill the shape of the letter "O" that was removed by the nasty snow plow. I am posting this before midnight so lets see if I am correct.

Barry gave me a bunch of really interesting articles that he had photocopied for me. One of them is on Father Beck, which I read today.
Turns out Father Beck played the violin.

Sweet... that is a gorgeous instrument.
I used to listen to Jean Luc Ponte whenever I visited my uncle. Loved it but never got a disk of my own. Don't know which one to get.

My favorites are A Taste of Passion and Enigmatic Ocean.

Know who you should check out? Violinist Vanessa Mae. She's a British citizen, Asian nationality. Young girl, in her 20s, absolutely gorgeous. She is an incredible musician AND performer. She'll play heavy Russian classical music with such an intensity and passion on her acoustic violin, dressed in all black, and then a half hour later is dressed to play cotton-eyed Joe or jazz or fusion that she has arranged herself on her 8 string zeta, dressed in a short miniskirt and boots as she dances across the stage like she's on MTV. She's absolutely wonderful. She's been on People magazine's 50 most beautiful people list, interviewed by Rolling Stone, and has been dubbed
"Mozart in Doc Martens".

why we like her?

It's like Sylvester Stallone bringing his Rambo character to a Merchant-Ivory movie. Vanessa Mae injects classic concert halls with action, sex appeal and something new.

why is she famous?

She is responsible for a new style of fusion music that combines the violin, classical music and pop beats. Her biggest success is The Violin Player. She was also a child prodigy.
Vanessa Mae might not be the world's most renowned celebrity, but among violinists she pales only to Itzhak Perlman for name recognition. The young prodigy has created a new style of music mixing classic instrumentals with contemporary beats to become a "techno-acoustic fusion violinist". Not only is she talented, but Vanessa Mae is extremely prolific. Before the age of 20, she had already released 15 albums.
