Here's a bunch of stuff I "dug up" ha ha...btw, the Historic Preservation Office in NJ is attempting to find and georeference lost cemeteries. They can be reported in much the same way that endangered and threatened species are reported to the NJ Natural Heritage Program, and the information is kept quiet because of the fragile nature of some of these stones. If you are interested in reporting one for considered protection, contact the state museum in NJ for a report.

Also consult U.S. Geological Survey's GNIS Database. Specify the state and county, and enter cemetery for Feature Type.

Here's one I pulled up:
Feature Name: Chatsworth Cemetery
Feature Type: cemetery
State: New Jersey
County: Burlington
USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Chatsworth

394831N
0743203W

the following are links that were on the page:

TopoZone.com Display feature in TopoZone.
Display FIPS55 Place Code Note: Not all place codes are available through this site. To search the FIPS55 database or download FIPS55 files, go to the FIPS55 site
View USGS Digital Raster Graphic (DRG) covering this feature from TerraServer. A DRG is a digitized version of a USGS topographic map. Visit the USGS Digital Backyard for more information.
View USGS Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ) covering

Here's one on conservation:

Hey,
Thanks for all this great info. I'd like to send them info on some lost graveyards I know about (you've seen them with me).
I've heard of the political graveyard website. There is also this one: http://www.interment.net/ ,this one: http://www.findagrave.com/ ,this one: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/pet/ and also this one: http://www.whosaliveandwhosdead.com/
Regarding the Association for Gravestone Studies, here are links to sites with similar content: http://members.aol.com/TombView/twav.html , http://www.tombstonetravel.com/ , and http://alsirat.com/silence/index.html and finally: http://oldbones.net/ Oh, and there's also: http://www.savinggraves.com/
I'll have to check out the U.S. Geological Survey's GNIS Database. That sounds really interesting.
Thanks!
