I have wanted to check out a few things in the Greenwood Forest, and this morning I was able to do that. We parked near the old pig slaughter house off of 72 and walked the rest of the way. On the way we found this.

It is in the road as you can see here. Look closely for it. There should be another one not far away but after a quick look we had to leave.

We also checked out this small pond that is not far from the Woodmansie sand pits. An interesting area around there.

We walked about 3 miles and saw about 15 plump toads. The health of the toad population looks good there.

Nice report Guy. Those ponds (which I believe are just smaller versions of the old halfway pits) are very cool! High banks. There is a natural pond/boarderline spong (I am pretty sure it is natural) right near old half way that few people see that is also particularly interesting. Do you know which one I mean? I think it is near the most eastern of the halfway pits.
