not trying to start any ruckus but I notice all of Hawkins native's post have been deleted???? Now I don't 100% agree with his views just as me and that mark guy, lol. but we all share a love for the pines in one way or another. why's he not allowed or why has he chosen not too? :(

I think he bumped heads with people on the site once in a while, myself included. Its hard to figure out one's sense of humor over the computer. Anyway, I solved my issue with him through private messaging and all was fine. I think he was upset over not being able to express his opinions on the forum's threads. That being said, this site is awesome for one's quest of knowledge on the pines and it shouldn't be a place for people to really get into it. There's probably some kickboxing site for crap like that.
PEACE

I hear ya, but when ever you have one thing that interests so many people into so many different things, its bound to have some issues, I think debates are needed to keep awareness levels up, I know have got into some heated debates myself, however there isn't one person on this site that I wouldn't be happy to walk up with a extended hand ready to shake hands:D

Debates are definately needed, but once bashing begins it's all downhill. Behind a computer screen is no place to argue and bash people from (and Im in no way referring to people from this site). From what I've heard, Hawkin was quite knowledgable on many subjects, so hopefully he'll be back.

Hawkin took it upon himself to delete all of his posts. I did not touch a single thing he wrote, nor did I ban him. He's welcome to post here any time he wants. I have no problem with the guy at all.

What I do have a problem with is people hurling ridiculous personal insults and attacks (as what happened in the beer thread), and told Guy to hand out 24 hour bans to people who do that going forward. He got upset with that, I told him that if he didn't like it he could leave, and he went through and deleted all of his posts.

Couldn't agree more. If folks want to get personal, get a room. Too many good sites have been ruined when folks don't keep it civil.

As the saying goes; 'Just walk away'. :D

Phew, I haven't kept up with the beer thread either (have been too busy drinking beer ).

There's an old saying which I have been known to quote which goes, "I don't know how we're gonna to get along without you, but starting on Monday we're sure gonna try."

R.I.P. Hawkin....

I usually ignore it when folks have disagreements, but ... well, it's not for me to say ... this past one didn't appear to be all that serious to me (there have been plenty worse), a simple misunderstanding, and quickly settled itself.

I loved (and looked forward to) Hawkin's bird photos. Hopefully he'll see past all this and provide us with more.

I already miss the smell of cedar from his relatives workshop making sneak boxes... and his photos.

I belong to many other sites and the politics, finance and faith topics are simmering with acidic posts. The innocence and politeness of this place seems like a sing along around a campfire in comparison.

Not for the faint of heart.

Hawkin seems to be quite an interesting and knowledgeable guy, and he definitely had some good stuff to bring to this forum. He shares similar interests with many of us here, and I'm sure he has much love for the Pines. As someone pointed out, it can be difficult to read people's tone and intent over the internet. While Hawkin may very well be a chap that I'd like to have some beers with, he conducted himself poorly on this forum a number of times. He admits that he is a sensitive guy, yet he frequently posted in a very confrontational manner. These two traits do not mesh well on an online venue of this kind. That said, I like a good debate, and those who know me know that I'm a ball-buster. But really....ya need to learn to bite your tongue once in a while and choose your battles wisely. Hawkin seems to have an axe to grind, but this isn't the place to do it.

So Hawkin, if you're reading this, I think we would all welcome you back. You were a good asset to these boards apart from your squawkin'. Feel free to pm me and perchance we can meet up for a beer sometime.
