Great forum. My wife and I paddled the Batsto and Mullica rivers a few times when we were first married and I fell in love with the Pines. We've spent time hiking and camping there since (although not as much as I would like.)

I am taking a group of boy scouts down the Wading river from Hawkins Bridge to Bodine Field Oct 27th. We are camping in Bodine. Does anyone know if the river is too low for canoes? Also, if anyone can point me to some sights along the way that I can share with the kids, I would really appreciate it. Thanks all. I will try to take pics and give a report on how the kids reacted to the trip.

Two of my co workers paddled down from Hawkins today. They had to drag across several sections. Micks was putting people in at Godfreys Bridge for that reason. I'm pretty sure the state frowns of using Godfrey's as a put in or take out though. Evans Br. to Beaver Branch would be a better bet during these water conditions.

After looking at it I think that we will go from Hawkin Br. to Bodine Field. I would like to have the kids on the river for four or five hours and have them stop and prepare their own lunch. The couple of hour trip from Evans Bridge to Beaver Branch seems a little too short.
Thanks for the tips and responses.

I'm used to suggesting the Evans to Beaver Br. trip since we do that stretch with school groups often and they can do it and still get back in time for the school buses to do their thing ( I cancelled such a trip today due to the deluge), but you are right, it is a very short trip. When we take those signing up for our public programs on the Wading, we go from Hawkins to Beaver Branch.
