I don't know who this youtube poster is but I suspect we probably know him. He has alot of footage of the Herman city hotel before and during the fire. IF you click on his name you can see he has alot of interesting videos.

Looks like all hope was gone structurally, just keep it contained to save the surroundings. It must have been cooking or smoldering a little before that major "whoosh" declared in the video. Probably a well set fire.

Really tremendous collection of videos. I love the one with the names carved in the side of the hotel. It will take awhile to watch all 118

Yeah, I was glad to come across it. I seem to recall in one of the videos (the one that shows the sign on route 542) that he mentions, or the caption info mentions, a date in the early '80's.

I'm in the process of setting up a YouTube account to personally thank this man for his postings. It gave me the opportunity to see the hotel in a way I never have before. It is strange he has never been on this site. I would think he would thourghly enjoy all this site has to offer. I'll have to let him know.

All the videos seem to be from the late eighties. I didn't see anything in the five or six I watched that made me think they weren't.
The gentleman replied and told me "Thanks". Also he informed me that he is aware of this website and has in the pass submitted articles here on Herman City.
