I don't know who this youtube poster is but I suspect we probably know him. He has alot of footage of the Herman city hotel before and during the fire. IF you click on his name you can see he has alot of interesting videos.

Wow,
Thanks for sharing. I would take them to be a bit older than that Bob.
Looks like all hope was gone structurally, just keep it contained to save the surroundings. It must have been cooking or smoldering a little before that major "whoosh" declared in the video. Probably a well set fire.
Darn shame.

Thanks Jeff. I watched most of them which took a while. I am trying to date them from the vehicles. Budd Wilson looks much younger so I would suspect they are from the 80's.

These video's are the work of Drew Techner who has done extensive research on Herman City.

Yeah, I was glad to come across it. I seem to recall in one of the videos (the one that shows the sign on route 542) that he mentions, or the caption info mentions, a date in the early '80's.

Anyone lend any credence to the date "June 15, 1987" that's posted in the "About This Video" section?

I'm in the process of setting up a YouTube account to personally thank this man for his postings. It gave me the opportunity to see the hotel in a way I never have before. It is strange he has never been on this site. I would think he would thourghly enjoy all this site has to offer. I'll have to let him know.
