hiking after knee replacement?

Off-topic, but appropriate for this population. What is the experience of those on this forum who have had the original joint replaced with a prosthetic? Can you still walk extensively on uneven ground?

The official medical info is that a replacement knee works just fine. LOL.

I used to walk for miles, but now am good for limited distance, with a knee brace.

Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has had this surgery, which I am considering.

Thanks all

A friend Swamp Fox (He hiked the first 200 mi. of my AT hike in 2009) has done over 10.000 miles since his knees replaced in 2010. He's 80 now and hiking in Canada. Also spent a year hiking in Europe. :)
