HISTORIC PLACES & GIS: MAPPING, UNDERSTANDING, PRESERVING.

The New Jersey Historic Preservation Office and Preservation New
Jersey are pleased to offer a free half day workshop on the benefits
of Geographic Information Systems and the preservation of cultural and
historic resources. We encourage municipal leaders, land use
regulatory boards and commission members, non-profit organizations and
GIS professionals to attend this landmark workshop. Participants will
learn how Cultural Resources GIS can help communities around the State
to more effectively plan, interpret and protect historic resources and
preserve our quality of life. See demonstrations of current GIS
technologies and applications designed to help communities answer the
question: "How can we preserve historic resources if we don't know
where they are?"

The workshop will be held Monday, October 27, 2003 between 1:00-
5:00p.m. in the NJDEP Public Hearing Room at 401 East State Street,
Trenton, NJ. The workshop is free, registration is required. Please

She sounded Indian when I spoke with her. Wanted to know what my interest was before she would register me, but she was nice enough.

A Saturday, are you kidding, a State Employee working on a weekend?

Here's an interesting one: try to stop a state trooper when you need one. I swear if I left my license home or forgot to buckle my seat belt I'd get caught every time. But yesterday I was trying to get a trooper's attention: we were at a four way stop, as was the trooper--I actually did a U turn in the middle of the road, ran the stop street, laid on my horn and flashed my brights all the while driving 65 mph trying to get his attention, and all he did was wave and smile at me!!!!
Go figure!
