How to log my location as I'm traveling?

For any of you who have followed my Bass River State Forest trip report thread, you know that I'm trying to reconstruct my journey through the northern part of the forest to Martha and then out to Chatsworth Road. I've seen folks who have posted their hikes on here and am wondering how to do it myself. I am using Boyd's maps loaded onto a Garmin Nuvi-do these units have any ability to log a trip for later viewing in Basecamp or some other program? If not, what do I need to do so? A day of getting lost out in the pines would be a lot more productive if I could upload the data and look at it on a map afterwards. Not to mention I could probably have a good chuckle looking at the circles I would likely have traveled in. :D

Unfortunately the Nuvi 200 doesn't record a trip log like the newer models. However I believe it supports advanced track log recording - sort of a "secret menu". Unfortunately, if you don't activate this in advance, it won't have recorded anything. But newer Nuvi's are always recording the track - you can't even turn it off. Maybe someone else in your group had one?

If not, here's some info for future trips.

You might need to revert to an older version of the firmware to access this feature. If so, you can probably download it here:
