It's no hotter this summer then any other summer. Why hasn't this happened in the past?I hardly believe the heat has affected oxygen levels in the bay,it's not a small farm pond.Something smells fishy and it's not bunker.

It's just a symptom of a much larger problem IMO. Our bay, Barnegat, is slowly dying. Many folks tried to blame one source as the problem, the power plant, but it is becoming very evident it is much, much more complex and folks are finally beginning to wake up to it. Unfortunatley it is probably too late to reverse the trends, it will become much worse. I'm hoping there is at least an effort to try. There was a public joint hearing of the NJ Senate & Assembly Environment Committee in Toms River today to discuss 4 bills designed to turn the tide, so to speak. I could not attend, but my son did. Waiting to hear from him.

Numerous fish washed up dead in Mass as well.

How many days since they started spraying corexit? Go ahead, call me crazy...

Pause at 15 seconds, that is approximately the same time relative to today.

I agree that there needs to be more indepth investigation, but Al . . .

. . . seriously? That's just silly.

well it is hotter then last summer but i have seen summers hotter.back in the 80's i forget the year it hit over 100 heat index for 40 days straight and had quite a few of those days the actual temp was over 100.Maybe my old bones are just taking to the heat more then they used too though I never would of thought so.I'm a cold lover myself, just miss the snakes in the winter is all:)

I'm with you Al; autumn, winter and early spring suit me just fine. I find it easier to get warmer than cooler. And forget about the humidity. :argh:

I'm pretty sure they use the actual temp when measuring records. NOAA does say that July was the second all time record high month on record for land and ocean surface temps and July land temps were the warmest on record.

NJ had the second highest July on record.

It might be time to think about heading back north :)
