Pines Plains

Drive on Route 539 to the town of Warren Grove ... keep heading south on 539 ... turn onto to Range Road ... there are a few "high" locations where you can get out and take some great pictures.

Range Road is a dirt road on the right side of 539 heading toward Tuckerton from Warren Grove. There is a large govt sign that says 'air to ground range'. Do NOT go thru the gate for the range. You can drive till you come to a pond on the right, park near there and follow the sand road around the pond. I found this location thanks to folks on this site,

There is a photo in the header that features and overhead view of a wide expanse of the pine barrens but the focal point of the photo is a long dirt road with some of the whitest sand Ive ever seen.... anyone know where this is?

I would assume it is my photo but I am not sure which one you are referring to. Here are all the headers.

Gee thanks man for posting all those... sure beats hitting refresh a billion times!

I am referring to number 61 from the top, also would you happen to know where number 76 is as well??? that field is beautiful.

And thanks for the warning... geez i dont even know if I wanna go anymore, can I get killed if I stay on the right side of the line as well??? and Ive been wrongfully detained before it went all the way to being placed in handcuffs because some chick said the guy that robbed her looked like me when I had just came from my graduation bbq after graduating from Rowan University! So I have experience being in cuffs if I accidentally cross the line by accident lol!

If you have Windows right click on the photo you want to know about and choose "View Image" in the contextual menu that comes up. Then look at the URL in the top of your browser for the photo number. I believe you may have counted wrong.

This is 61.

I would have to think you mean number 57 which I believe is Ben's photo so I may not be able to help you.

It actually is hard to get on the left side of the line if you park at the lake (Governors Pond). They won't bother you unless you go thru the gate or wander across the line.

If you make a left or right off of any tar road in the pine barrens onto a dirt road, you will see scenic vistas like any of the banner photos within minutes. Guaranteed.

Get out in the big woods and make it happen, just be sure and post your photos.
Maybe, one of yours will someday be a banner photo.
Welcome to the site.

I believe you are referring to the picture of the view looking SE from Apple Pie Hill tower. This road, White Horse road runs into Speedwell Place road and continues to Speedwell. Using Google maps you can easily find the way there.

Forgot to mention, picture 77 was also taken along Speedwell place road. The pile in the picture is no longer there, (the results of logging operations there) and the fields on each side of the road have grown back real quick.

Took a ride down Bombing Range Road Friday for the first time with the misses anmd the kids and the new pup. What an awesome area. Wanted to hike around some but not really an option with the 3 month old twins. figured we'd hand out for the sunset, unfortunately it was not as spectatcular as others, but as far as i'm concerned every sunset over the pine barrens is a good one

Nice to see your wife likes to go there. And the kids will hopefully keep an interest in the pines as they get older.

she loves it out in the pines. She has the eye for photography too, just waiting to get some spare dollars up for some lenses for her rebel. Once that happens you'll probably see her sign up on here.
