On our walk this morning down by the Batona camp we heard a large diesel engine and the Beep, Beep, Beep of a construction vehicle. We walked toward it and saw this.

It was located here

It was significantly enlarging the man made "lake" there. Just up the road there is a deep puddle in the road that needs fixing but we did not walk through, maybe tomorrow. The part of the road where the fill was benig placed never floods. I was amazed to see any work being done. The grader was busy this summer but only affects the smallest defects. There are so many places that need attention, why here?

Glad to see it

That road has really taken a beating over the last 10 years or so. I wish it was the area you call the lake. A friend and I got stuck there 3 winters ago:cry:! There are also long stretches of sugar sand that were not there years ago, hopefully those will be removed.

That road is a mess. I can't use it in wet weather. It is interesting they are fixing it. That is a main road from 532 to Carranza so they may want it open all year long.

He did a really nice job. The big hole just past this is also filled in.

Today the dozer from the Forest Fire Service is working on Tuckerton Rd between Carranza and High Crossing. We drove in from Carranza and found him working just before the Scary Hill.

The photo doesn't do that rut justice, it's almost up to my hip.
He didn't fill in any of the holes going up to the hill and it looked like he was blocking the road with a hugh pile of dirt. Changes may be coming.

Very nice! We have to thank them for that. I saw that one on Tuckerton Road a week or so ago. It shows that even on the roads some of these vehicles can do damage.

That hill on Tuckerton Rd has been nast for the last year or two. usually go to the end of the blacktop in caranza rd and follow the tracks down over to High Crossing. Glad to see that being fixed.

The money they spend fixing ruts, and the access issues that torn-up roads cause for hikers, bikers, equestrians, etc., will eventually get private vehicles banned from the forest, or at least that would be my prediction.

I checked out the scary hill this morning with two people I was with. Nice!

Now that it is fixed the FFS created berms around the Scary Hill so people would no longer try and go around it through the woods, It didn't last long.

We do not need new laws or maps of trails, these people will respect nothing and need to be prosecuted.

Just dirt hills won't do it. Plus everything else thats going on, the morons are being spiteful (my guess). I know how to block stuff off effectfully. I've been there before blocking off a freinds property and theres one way that actually works.

It was hard work and tax dollars that fixed that.
