These were truly awesome. They allowed a feeling of being there in that period.

I think these photos also should serve as a reminder that the pure photo, where composition and expression say so much, without today's enhancements or extreme processing techniques, will have the most impact as the years wander by and those well ahead of us look back to see what once was.

Good words, Bill. I do agree, it's a shame that most of this America is gone forever. Some of these photos give me chills, the gold panners, the cowboys roping up the gray wolf, meetings with Native Americans... fascinating.
