Interesting Story

I'm no veteran of the Great White North, but I can't help but to have some suspicions about a few elements of this story. Glad she and the dog are okay.

I agree Mark.Sounds like BS to me as well.Nice touch though smearing her face with charcoal when the rest of her is clean.I usually come out of burnt woods with my body much dirtier then my face. One wolf attacking tow people sounds a little far fetched to me unless He was rabid and then He woulda just came straight in with no strategy. The whole bear thing seems far fetched as well.Seems like she would have got rushed as quickly as the bear. One thing is spot on though.Morels do like burnt ground but I have never actually heard of anyone finding enough in one place to fill a bag.Maybe she just got real lucky.

It's the bear thing that I can't get past. We all know that crazy and unpredictable things can happen in the woods, but if she approached a bear cub with her dog in tow I believe that 1) her and the domestic dog would have gotten it first , as they would have appeared more of a threat than the wolf due to closer proximity (because I doubt that she sandwiched the wolf in between her and the bear cub), and 2) if this were a black bear, I think that the mom would have perceived all three of them as a threat and treed the cub and waited it out. Black bear are awesome tree climbers. No reason for mom to get into it with a wolf, dog and random human if she can just wait it out. If it were a grizz, I go back to #1 and think that it would be ohshit for her and the dog as soon as she approached the cub.

Who knows though, like I said, crazy and unpredictable things. Maybe the wolf voluntarily went after the bear cub and ended up as bear scat. I hear it grows some great mushrooms...

:D

IMO, I think she's nuts; got lost and created the story to save face, although it is quite dirty  And no mosquito bites to show from the "zillions of mosquitos"?
