Is Harris Station and Pine Crest the same place?

No they are not. There was a Harris Station and a Pine Crest Station. According to the maps I have the Harris Station was almost to the concrete foundation of the Pine Crest Gun Club, and the Pine Crest Station was closer to the road from Apple Pie to Speedwell.

From The Trail of the Blue Comet (page 448}:

"PINE CREST: established 1862 as HARRIS STATION; renamed September 30, 1923; station built 1894; freight house built 1884; razed by 1916; discontinued 1938"

Perhaps the confusion over the two sites stems from there being a freight station built first named Harris (the site of which Guy documented in the older thread) later supplemented by a Harris passenger station slightly to the north, which was renamed Pine Crest after Harrisville was destroyed?

Guy certainly knows a lot more about this than I do. But I noticed two NGS Benchmarks on my topo map near Pine Crest

Here's the datasheet for the one marked "87", this doesn't tell us much:


and this is the one marked "S 21":


This one is dated 1935 and says "ABOUT 0.2 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE STATION SHED AT PINT [sic] CREST"

The red square here is .2 miles (1056 feet) Southwest of that benchmark.

There is nothing on the LIDAR imagery that suggests anything was ever there however.
